About the listing
The oldest and toughest cycling race in Australia (the second oldest cycling event in the world) starts from Avalon Airport and finishes in the picturesque beach-side town of Warrnambool in Victoria's south west.
The 267-kilometre route that incorporates part of the Great Ocean Road ensures that only the best of the best make the finish to contest the win, with a number of exciting sprints to conclude the race in recent years along Raglan Parade.
Run simultaneously with the Melbourne to Warrnambool is the Royal Bikes Port Campbell to Warrnambool, which takes the race back to its roots as a handicap, a race where everyone is in with a chance.
The City of Warrnambool always stages a great show at the finish line, and is a great place to stay and relax after the race is over.
The second part of the racing action for the weekend is on the Sunday on Middle Island, where a fast and frenetic criterium will see the riders trying to grab a bit of glory to round of the weekend.
