'Hidden Treasures', Flagstaff Hill's Spring School Holiday Program, is great fun for the whole family. Families can discover the treasures of the 19th Century Maritime Museum and Village with a program bursting with unique activities. here are 6 reasons why you can't miss out!
1. Travel Back in Time
On Wednesdays, follow the Jolly Lighthouse Keeper on a magical journey back in time to solve a mystery with help from the shopkeeper, a nurse, garrison soldier and even the Blacksmith! Enjoy the sunshine on the village green with some Old Fashioned Games daily at 10am-3pm. Stepinto the 1800's School House where you can dress up and learn how to use a nib pen or slate boards with the strict School Ma'am. Join the roving musicians and Garrison Crew on the 27th as they fire the 80-pound Cannon - talk about a blast from the past! (Bookings required for tours and school room activities).
2. Meet the Maremmas
Mondays to Thursdays at 10am during the spring school holidays families can meet the fmous Maremmas. Learn about the little penguins and the importance of protecting them and how this world first conservation project uses Maremma dogs to protect bird life on Middle Island - made famous by the movie 'Oddball'. You will be given the opportunity to pay and have a photo with the Maremma dogs so don't forget your camera.
3. Make, Build and Learn
Each day at Flagstaff Hill's 'Hidden Treasures' there are fun kids craft activities at 11am and 2pm like artistic carpentry, amazing animal masks, finger knitting and jewelry making. back every day of the Spring holidays, Triton Woodworkers will be on board helping kids (and big kids) to build their own woodwork creations. Don't forget to book in for kids cooking - it's always a hit!
4. Old Fashioned Service
Reward yourself with a well-earned stop at the Stella Maris Tearooms open daily from 11am - 2pm during the school holidays. The new spring menu is full of gourmet toasties, hot pastries and pies, delicious coffee, Devon-shire Tea and the popular jam and cream scones. Feeling like something sweeter? Head on into Mrs Kuck's Confectionery Lolly Shop and treat yourself to a variety of goodies!
5. Learn the Tales of the Shipwreck Coast
Nightly on dusk, ' Tales of the Shipwreck Coast' takes you on a journey through the ages. Experience three epic true stories told through light projections onto a nine-meter water wall. From local creation stories of the Gunditjmara people, to our colorful whaling past, then to the most notorious Shipwreck on the Great Ocean Road, the wreck of the Loch Ard. Don't just learn about the history, experience it - bookings essential.
